IMF Approves Loan Disbursement to El Salvador While Criticizing Bitcoin Strategy
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a $139 million disbursement to El Salvador as part of a broader $1.4 billion loan agreement signed in December.
In a statement, the IMF praised El Salvador for improving its economy, citing sustained improvements in security and investor confidence.
However, the fund also criticized the country's Bitcoin strategy, saying it was reducing the state's involvement in Bitcoin-related activities and would not accumulate any further bitcoin beyond documented donations.
