India-Based Users Send Record $88.4 Billion to Exchanges in Regional Region
From July 2025 through June 2026, exchanges in Central and Southeast Asia and Oceania received a total of $88.4 billion in value attributed to India-based users, the highest amount in this region.
Domestic platforms in India received only 0.7% of this value, which is significantly lower than the 7% share they held before the mid-2022 drop.
India-based users sent a large amount of value to exchanges outside the country, which is why the total value received by exchanges in the region is so high.
The figures measure the value received by exchanges and attributed to users by country, not exchange revenue, trading volume, or customer counts.
The Indian government's 1% withholding tax on crypto transfers may be one factor contributing to the low share of domestic platforms in the total value received.
