India Government Set to Reveal Crypto Regulation Plan Next Week
India's government is expected to respond next week to the Finance Committee's recommendations on regulating virtual digital assets (VDAs).
The country has been waiting for regulatory clarity for years, and this response could be a crucial step in defining the future of India's crypto industry.
Bhartruhari Mahtab, chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance, highlighted the 'grey areas' surrounding India's crypto sector. He stated that although crypto assets are taxed and subject to compliance rules, the sector lacks a clear regulatory framework.
The committee has consulted major crypto exchanges like Binance, WazirX, and ZebPay during its discussions. The final report will be submitted by next week, but it is only a parliamentary recommendation and not an immediate crypto regulation.
