Indian Exchanges Show Diverging Bitcoin Prices Amid Fragmented Order Books
Bitcoin spot prices in India showed significant divergence across three major exchanges on September 30, 2026. WazirX traded at $83,198, while CoinDCX and CoinSwitch were priced at $83,038.80 and $82,981.4, respectively.
The disparity is due to the fragmented nature of order books across Indian exchanges, which operate in separate liquidity pools without unified order routing. This fragmentation creates arbitrage opportunities for traders but also increases market risk until exchanges consolidate liquidity or introduce cross-exchange order routing.
Bitcoin's price does not trade at a single global rate, and India is no exception to this phenomenon. The differences across exchanges are more pronounced in India due to the distinct characteristics of each exchange's order book and trading volume.
