India's Crypto Call Center Scandal Exposes Widespread Fraud

Police raided an alleged cyber-fraud call center in Lucknow on June 30 and arrested 119 people. The arrests were made after investigators discovered that fake officials had been pushing victims towards cryptocurrency wallets and QR-code payments.

The case has highlighted the risks of cryptocurrency security and fraud, with investigators advising victims to report transfers immediately and preserve wallet addresses, transaction hashes, and messages.

The Allahabad High Court denied habeas corpus relief in Karolyn v. State of U.P., reviewing only the legality of the arrests. The court's decision on September 15 came after a June 30 raid on the call center.
