Indonesia's Crypto Industry Faces High Tax Burdens: Indodax CEO
Indonesia's crypto industry is facing significant tax burdens, according to Indodax CEO Oscar Darmawan. In an interview, he expressed hope that the government would reconsider the current tax rates for cryptocurrency traders, which are higher than those for stock traders.
Darmawan pointed out that crypto customers in Indonesia currently face a final tax fee of around 0.21% more than the cost of trading, which is significantly higher than the 0.1% tax rate imposed on stock traders.
He also emphasized the need to eliminate Value-Added Tax (VAT) for cryptocurrency assets, arguing that it would bring crypto trading fees in line with those of the stock market.
