Inflation Data Looms as Bitcoin ETF Holders Face Losses
The average Bitcoin ETF holder may be back in loss territory this week if yields rise following Wednesday's US inflation data release. According to Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart, a decline of about 2.2% from mid-$83,000 would put the average ETF holder's cost basis at $81,722, below their recent rally-induced profit levels.
Seyffart estimated this target on September 21, and it coincides with Tuesday's price action near the intraday low of $82,775.94 reached on September 29. A move through $81,722 would make the trading decisions of individual investors worth watching, as they have different purchase prices.
Traders may reassess their initial reaction to new inflation figures as they absorb employment data, GDP estimates, and revisions in the coming hours. If a hotter PCE reading lifts yields, Bitcoin could trade below $81,722, putting the average position back in loss territory.
