Injective Secures Transfer Agent Status with SEC, Boosting Regulated Tokenization

Injective Institutional Services has secured transfer agent status with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), marking a significant milestone in the ecosystem's journey towards regulated tokenization.

The registration, announced on August 19, empowers Injective to maintain securities ownership records and process ownership changes, strengthening its infrastructure for financial assets on-chain.

Tokenized assets often rely on separate off-chain ownership records. However, with this distinction, the SEC staff has stated that a registered transfer agent may use distributed ledger technology as its official Master Securityholder File, provided requirements are met.

This development paves the way for blockchain records to support the authoritative ownership layer and could address the gap between tokenization and compliance by connecting transfer-agent functions with assets moving through Injective's financial blockchain.
