Institutional Investor Allocations Exceed $1M to Streamex's Gold-Backed Token
Streamex Corp., a Nasdaq-listed technology company, has made significant strides in tokenization by securing an institutional allocation of over $1 million to its gold-backed token, GLDY. The allocation comes from Metalayer Capital's Aureon Relative Value Fund, which uses GLDY as a long position and aims to capture the yield paid by Streamex.
The strategy involves pairing GLDY with an offsetting short position in gold-linked perpetual futures, making it largely indifferent to gold price fluctuations. This approach allows Metalayer Capital to focus on capturing the yield generated through Streamex's gold-leasing program, which targets 3.5% per year in additional gold.
For Streamex, this development is significant as it marks a first for tokenized securities like GLDY, demonstrating that they are drawing interest from institutions beyond individual investors.
