Institutional Investors Bet Big on Crypto Assets
Institutional investors are increasingly including digital assets in their portfolios despite market volatility.
According to Bitwise Asset Management's Institutional Crypto Adoption 2026 study, most organizations hold between 1% and 2% of their portfolios in crypto assets. The study found that institutional investors gain exposure through ETFs, direct cryptocurrency holdings, venture funds, and hedge funds.
The majority of respondents cited fundamental factors, not price movements, as the reason for a potential exit from crypto assets. These included a lack of meaningful growth in real-world adoption of crypto technologies, deteriorating regulatory conditions, and technological failures in the industry.
