Institutions Shift Focus from 'If' to 'How Much' in Crypto Investments
Institutional investors are increasingly turning to cryptocurrencies as a permanent component of their investment portfolios, according to Bitwise Asset Management's Institutional Crypto Adoption 2026 study.
The study found that institutional investors are shifting their focus from whether or not to invest in crypto assets to determining the optimal allocation size and investment vehicles. As of October 2025 through April 2026, the crypto market fell by about 50%, yet none of the investors surveyed reduced their allocations, with several organizations increasing their positions.
The study's authors noted that institutional investors are favoring Bitcoin as the primary crypto asset in their portfolios, with every organization that already owned crypto assets holding BTC. For most, BTC was their first, largest, and longest-held position in the asset class.
