Institutions Treat Crypto Like a Hedge, Allocating Modest Amounts
Bitwise Asset Management's inaugural 'Institutional Crypto Adoption' report reveals most large institutions are treating cryptocurrency as a carefully measured hedge, allocating between 1% and 2% of their total investable assets to crypto.
The survey, which interviewed senior professionals at 15 large institutions, found that every single institution owns Bitcoin as its primary digital asset, with some institutions holding as little as 0.5% and others up to 13% of their portfolio in cryptocurrency.
Institutions are positioning Bitcoin as a store of value alongside gold, driven by concerns about fiat currency debasement, rather than as a growth bet or speculative moonshot.
