IOTA Subnet 9 Enables Decentralized AI Training with Blockchain-Based Incentives

IOTA (SN9) is a decentralized artificial intelligence training network developed by Macrocosmos as Bittensor Subnet 9. It's designed to enable a distributed network of miners and validators to collectively pre-train large language models using permissionless computing resources.

The subnet introduces the Incentivised Orchestrated Training Architecture (IOTA), which combines blockchain-based incentives with distributed AI training to enable scalable, cooperative model development.

IOTA addresses one of the primary challenges in decentralized AI: coordinating large-scale model training across geographically distributed and heterogeneous hardware. Traditional decentralized training approaches often require each participant to host an entire machine learning model locally, creating high hardware requirements and encouraging competition rather than collaboration.
