Iran Tensions Spark Global Cryptocurrency Sell-Off
The global cryptocurrency market experienced a downturn on Monday, with leading assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum declining in value. The Iran-US tensions persisted, contributing to the risk-off sentiment that dominated the market. According to Coinglass data, over $200 million was liquidated from the market in the last 24 hours, predominantly in bullish long positions.
Bitcoin's price dropped towards $63,000, while Ethereum fell below $1,900. The second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization saw its trading volume surge 70% over the past day. In contrast, Dogecoin gained value as investors sought refuge in alternative assets.
Santiment highlighted that Bitcoin's elite wallets, those holding at least 10,000 BTC, reached a six-month high, with a 7% increase over the last two months. This shift in supply may indicate a potential bullish fluctuation in the market. However, CryptoQuant warned that Bitcoin may be approaching an acute 'top formation phase,' increasing downside risk as prices climb.
