Iren Lands Nvidia Deal Amidst $2.1 Billion Equity Stake
Iren, an Australian firm that has been rapidly transforming itself from a Bitcoin miner to an artificial-intelligence infrastructure provider, is now at a pivotal juncture in its development. The company has secured Nvidia as its primary hardware supplier and inked a deal with the chip giant that could see it acquire up to $2.1 billion in Iren equity.
This arrangement effectively fuses hardware supply with potential capital investment, giving Nvidia a significant stake in Iren's expansion plans. Meanwhile, Iren has also announced its acquisition of Mirantis, a cloud-software and services provider, for approximately $464.87 million. This deal is expected to strengthen the software layer of Iren's operations.
Iren has also secured a major client in the frontier AI laboratory category with the signing of a new contract. The company's customer roster now includes Microsoft and Nvidia, with the latter having achieved Exemplar Cloud status on the GB300-NVL72 platform.
The financial picture remains uncertain, however, with Iren reporting a loss of $702.6 million for the full fiscal year. Despite this, management has guided towards an investment outlay of $25 billion to $30 billion for fiscal 2027, with expectations to reach an annualized revenue run rate above $4 billion by December.
