Iren Stock Surges as AI Infrastructure Demand Grows
Shares of Iren Limited (NASDAQ:IREN) surged by 10.1% in September, according to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence. The rally was fueled by the company's fiscal year 2026 results, released on August 27, which highlighted strong growth and expanding demand for its AI infrastructure services.
Iren benefits from existing data center capacity, much of which was originally built for Bitcoin mining. The company began active Bitcoin mining operations in 2019 and has since transitioned many of these sites to support AI compute needs. This strategy has allowed Iren to quickly sign new customers, including a recent multi-year AI Cloud agreement with a prominent frontier AI lab.
Revenue at Iren is growing rapidly. The company reported an annualized revenue run rate of about $1 billion as of August 26 and expects to more than quadruple that figure by year-end. Pricing for long-term contracts has also increased significantly, with three-year contracts up by 125% and five-year contracts by 70% in recent months.
Despite these gains, Iren's stock has not moved much year-to-date. The company's market cap stands at approximately $15.25 billion, which analysts view as a reasonable valuation. While data center development faces public pushback, Iren's existing capacity positions it favorably compared to competitors that must build new facilities.
