IREN's Identity Pivot Faces Execution Fears Amid $2.8 Billion Contract Doubts

IREN's ambitious transformation into an artificial intelligence infrastructure provider has left investors questioning its prospects.

The company, once a straightforward Bitcoin miner, has secured multi-year contracts worth $2.8 billion with customers including Microsoft and Nvidia, but the market remains unconvinced by its execution.

A recent forced liquidation of hedge fund Situational Awareness's shares in IREN drove the stock down 3.88% to €31.91 on Friday, with a weekly decline of 2.09% and a monthly drop of 16.22%.

Despite this volatility, Bernstein analyst Gautam Chhugani remains bullish on IREN, citing its vertically integrated model as a key differentiator that could capture value across the entire stack.

The company's financing package of $3.65 billion for GPU hardware raises concerns about capital intensity and dilution, but management is confident in its ability to convert backlog into cash flow.
