Israeli authorities are conducting separate investigations into two high-profile cases of alleged cryptocurrency tax evasion involving millions of dollars. In the first case, Adiel Miost was arrested on suspicions of tax evasion and money laundering linked to cryptocurrency trading worth tens of millions. The Haifa Magistrate's Court extended his detention by six days, allowing investigators more time to probe his activities. Miost is accused of failing to report his cryptocurrency trades to the Tax Authority and concealing income through undeclared foreign bank accounts and another person's bank account.
During searches related to Miost's case, authorities seized substantial foreign currency and a luxury vehicle allegedly registered in another person's name to hide his assets. The investigation is being led by the Tax Authority's Haifa Investigations Assessing Office and the Coastal Economic Crimes Unit of Lahav 433.
In a separate case, Alexander Pochinsky, an Ashdod businessman, was arrested on suspicion of failing to report approximately $13 million in income from cryptocurrency trading. The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court released him under stringent financial guarantees, including a personal undertaking of NIS 500,000 and a cash deposit of NIS 50,000. Pochinsky was also barred from leaving Israel for six months.
Investigators found that Pochinsky had been trading cryptocurrencies since 2019 using various digital wallets. Authorities obtained identification documents from Binance linking him to an account with extensive trading activity. Searches at his home led to the seizure of computer materials and digital wallets, with further analysis revealing additional wallet addresses. Both investigations remain ongoing.
