Israeli Crypto Trader Held for Alleged Tax Evasion Scheme
Israeli authorities have arrested a cryptocurrency trader suspected of evading millions in taxes through undisclosed trading activity. Adiel Miyost, 43, was taken into custody on Tuesday under allegations of tax evasion, money laundering, and conspiracy. Investigators claim Miyost traded cryptocurrencies on various exchanges without reporting the income, concealing his financial activity from the Israel Tax Authority.
Searches conducted as part of the investigation uncovered significant amounts of foreign currency and a luxury vehicle allegedly registered under someone else's name. Prosecutors accused Miyost of operating large-scale financial operations while violating anti-money laundering laws. They also expressed concerns that he might obstruct the investigation if released.
The Haifa Magistrate’s Court extended Miyost’s detention until October 11, 2026, after his attorneys agreed to the proposal. However, Miyost’s legal team dismissed the allegations, stating that the case belongs in civil court and that the claims lack substance. They also criticized the timing of the arrest, calling it regrettable given that the alleged offenses occurred over five years ago.
