Issuer-Sponsored Tokenization Tries to Fix Wall Street's Onchain Equity Problem

Share

Bullish, Equiniti, Alpaca, Apex Fintech Solutions, and Drivewealth have formed the Issuer Sponsored Token Coalition to tackle a major issue in tokenized stock ownership. Many tokenized stocks don't actually grant shareholders rights such as voting or dividend payments.

The coalition wants to create onchain shares connected directly to companies' official shareholder registers. This would preserve shareholder rights and align with Wall Street's experiments moving public equities onto blockchains.

Equiniti serves nearly 3,000 issuers and over 20 million shareholders, providing the coalition a direct link to official ownership records. The group plans to tackle technical standards, settlement, custody, and interoperability between traditional market infrastructure and blockchains.
