Blockstream has confirmed that its Jade line of Bitcoin hardware wallets is not affected by a recently disclosed random number generator (RNG) vulnerability. The company emphasized that its Jade devices use a different RNG implementation, which is not susceptible to the same flaw.

The vulnerability was discovered after an attack exploited a key-generation flaw in Coldcard hardware wallets, leading to the theft of 594 BTC worth approximately $38 million from around 500 wallets. This incident has raised questions about the security of hardware wallets and the importance of secure key generation.

Blockstream is preparing a blog post outlining best practices for users who wish to move Bitcoin to a new wallet. The company recommends generating new keys, verifying addresses, making a test transaction, and securely disposing of an existing recovery phrase.
