Japan FSA Makes Blockchain-Based On-Chain Finance a Priority for 2026
Japan's Financial Services Agency (FSA) has made blockchain-based on-chain finance a policy priority for its 2026 program year. The agency aims to promote the adoption of this technology across various financial infrastructure, including payments, securities settlement, and tokenization.
The FSA plans to launch an On-chain Finance Forum for the AI Era to examine technical, regulatory, and supervisory issues surrounding on-chain finance. This forum will bring together officials and industry participants to discuss how to put on-chain finance into practical use.
Separate discussions will take place through the Study Group on Digital and Decentralized Finance and the Study Group on Promoting the Sound Use of AI and Related Technologies. The groups will consider technical, regulatory, and supervisory questions surrounding blockchain technology and its applications in finance.
