Japan Sanctions Russia, Adds Crypto Exchange Garantex
Japan has imposed new sanctions on Russia, including adding crypto exchange Garantex to its asset freeze list. The move targets 33 entities and nine individuals from the Russian Federation, with Garantex facing restrictions on payments and capital transactions due to allegations of sanctions evasion.
The Japanese government cited the 'current international situation over Ukraine' as the reason for the sanctions, aiming to contribute to international efforts towards peace. It also emphasized that its decision aligns with measures taken by other major countries.
Garantex has previously faced sanctions from the United States and the European Union. The new restrictions apply a permission system to payments and capital transactions involving listed parties, including deposit contracts, trusts, and money loans.
