Jobs Report Shock Hits Wall Street, But Crypto Market Defies Expectations
The US labor market delivered a surprise on Friday, with the economy losing 23K jobs in July. This is far below the expected gain of 83K. The unemployment rate also rose.
June's job growth was revised down to just 20K, adding to the concerns about the state of the labor market. The decline in employment has raised fears of stagflation, a period of stagnant economic growth and high inflation.
The crypto market seemed to defy expectations, however, with prices showing resilience despite the poor jobs report. Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Ripple (XRP), and Solana (SOL) all held their ground, bucking the trend seen in traditional assets.
