JPMorgan Chase & Co. has expanded its blockchain payment services by bringing its deposit token, JPM Coin, to the Ethereum network. This move marks another step in the bank's growing involvement in digital asset transactions, as Wall Street increasingly adopts public blockchain networks for financial operations.
The JPM Coin, which represents US dollar deposits at JPMorgan, will now be available to institutional clients on Ethereum. Initially launched last year on the Base blockchain, an affiliate of Coinbase Global Inc., the token enables clients to transfer funds instantly and around the clock, a significant improvement over traditional banking systems that can take days to process transactions.
JPMorgan announced the development in a statement on Monday, highlighting the efficiency and accessibility of the Ethereum network for institutional clients. The bank's decision to integrate JPM Coin with Ethereum reflects a broader trend in the financial industry toward leveraging blockchain technology for faster and more secure transactions.
