JPMorgan Sees High Short Interest in Bitcoin ETFs as Catalyst for Gains
JPMorgan's recent report suggests that Bitcoin ETFs have more upside potential than gold ETFs, primarily due to high short interest. BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) has particularly elevated short interest, which could lead to a short squeeze if traders unwind their positions.
The report notes that while gold ETFs have fully recovered from their 2026 outflows, Bitcoin ETFs have only regained about half of their losses. This discrepancy suggests room for growth in the market. The high short interest in Bitcoin ETFs is seen as a potential trigger for bigger gains than those experienced by gold ETFs.
