JPMorgan Warns Delays in CLARITY Act Could Undermine Crypto Growth

JPMorgan analysts have warned that delays in passing the CLARITY Act could undermine the growth of the cryptocurrency market. The act, which would provide clearer oversight and a more predictable framework for digital assets, has stalled in the Senate amid opposition from Democrats.

The analysts argue that without clear rules, tokenization and blockchain-based applications may be absorbed by incumbent market infrastructure rather than contributing to public crypto networks. They also point out that some sections of the legislation could weaken institutional participation by permitting certain tokenized securities and derivatives trading outside government oversight.

Despite this warning, SEC Chairman Paul Atkins has stated that his agency is prepared to take action if Congress fails to act on the CLARITY Act. He emphasized that statute provides a way to 'future-proof' regulatory frameworks, and his agency is ready to issue rules addressing issues in the crypto market.
