JPYC, Japan's first registered stablecoin issuer, has secured $38 million in an extended Series B funding round. The company raised a total of 6 billion yen ($38 million) to support its expansion into payment networks and Web3 services across the country.

The investment includes a 1 billion yen contribution from Tokyo-listed logistics company AZ-COM Maruwa Holdings, which plans to use JPYC for transportation fees and salaries. This partnership aims to streamline payments and respond to labor shortages caused by Japan's aging workforce and stricter overtime regulations.

JPYC is also expanding into retail payments through a pilot program with Lawson, allowing customers to test stablecoin payments using existing point-of-sale systems. The company is evaluating settlement speed, wallet integration, transaction processing, and store operations before considering broader deployment.
