Judge Slams Trump Admin's 'Blank Check' Against AI Firm

A federal judge has ruled that the Trump administration's actions against AI company Anthropic were illegitimate.

The dispute began when the Pentagon asked Anthropic to drop its usage restrictions and accept a clause allowing 'all lawful uses.' Anthropic refused, drawing two red lines. In response, Trump ordered every federal agency to stop using their technology, calling them a 'RADICAL LEFT, WOKE COMPANY.'

Judge Lin found that the government's central claim - that Anthropic had backdoor access to deployed models - was unfounded. The government conceded this point and instead argued that Anthropic's refusal to cooperate had forfeited their trust.

However, Lin rejected this argument, stating that 'the empty invocation of national security is not a blank check to punish and retaliate against government critics.'
