July Rally Fades as Traders Eye Bitcoin's Seasonal August Slump
Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) have emerged as top performers in July, defying major asset classes. According to data from CoinGlass, Ethereum gained 19.5% during the month while Bitcoin rose 7.37%. In comparison, chip stocks plummeted 22%, with the Nasdaq 100 and Russell 2000 slipping by 9% and 3%, respectively.
The S&P 500 also declined, but its loss was much smaller at about 1%. Silver dropped 2.64%, while gold remained relatively unchanged, adding just 0.38% to its value over 30 days.
This recovery follows a difficult first half of the year for both cryptocurrencies. Historical data suggests August has been a challenging month for Bitcoin, with the asset posting an annual loss every year since 2022.
