The US Justice Department has seized over $560,000 in cryptocurrency donations meant for Hamas, a militant group. The operation targeted fundraising and recruitment efforts through websites, communication platforms, and social media channels.

FBI affidavits revealed that Hamas started using virtual currency fundraising around early 2019 through its military wing, the Qassam Brigades. Officials bragged about the currency's anonymity, claiming it would be untraceable.

A major investigative break came when a confidential source in the US alerted law enforcement to a Telegram post soliciting donations via an email address associated with Hamas.

US Attorney Jeanine Pirro stated that 'your networks are not secure, your crypto is vulnerable, and we will not stop until your ability to wage war is defeated.'
