Justin Sun, the founder of TRON, has alleged that World Liberty Financial (WLF), linked to President Donald Trump, embedded a 'backdoor' in its stablecoin USD1.

Sun claims this backdoor gives WLF unilateral power to freeze or destroy tokens without notice or due process. He alleges that WLF used this capability against his own WLFI tokens and threatened him with criminal referrals when he attempted to exercise his legal rights.

The dispute has been ongoing, with Sun initially investing $45 million in WLF and receiving WLFI tokens in return. He claimed that WLF secretly embedded the backdoor into the smart contract, which he believes is an unlawful seizure of his property.

Sun's lawyers appeared in a California federal court to prevent WLF from destroying or disposing of his WLFI tokens, and a court order was obtained to this effect. Sun also claims that USD1 has administrative controls that could allow WLF to freeze or destroy tokens.
