Kakao, Fireblocks Team Up on Digital Asset Infrastructure in South Korea
Kakao Pay and Kakao Bank have partnered with Fireblocks to explore digital asset infrastructure in South Korea. The agreement comes as financial institutions across Asia-Pacific move from pilots toward operational infrastructure.
The companies will examine digital asset distribution frameworks suited to Korean regulatory, security, and service requirements. They plan to run proof-of-concept tests to assess how those frameworks could operate in practice.
Kakao is positioning banking and payments around the effort, with its Stablecoin Task Force co-headed by Yun Ho-young and Shin Won-keun. Fireblocks' platform is used by more than 2,500 institutions globally, including over 100 banks.
