Kakao Group, a South Korean technology conglomerate, has entered into a strategic partnership with Circle Internet Group to develop digital financial infrastructure in South Korea.

The collaboration will focus on building blockchain-based payment infrastructure, digital asset solutions, and infrastructure for a South Korean won-pegged stablecoin under the country's existing regulatory framework.

Kakao Group includes Kakao, Kakao Pay, and Kakao Bank, and the partnership aims to combine its digital ecosystem with Circle's expertise in building global infrastructure for blockchain payments and digital assets.

The companies plan to jointly explore new solutions for payments, settlements, and the integration of digital assets with the existing financial system.

Kakao Group also plans to build a technology foundation that will enable other South Korean market participants to adopt stablecoin-based solutions.
