Kalshi Abandons Pepe Perpetual Futures Before Launch
Kalshi has pulled its proposal for a Pepe (PEPE) perpetual futures contract before the product could launch, removing the meme coin from the exchange’s available crypto perpetuals. The proposed contract, labeled PEPEPERP, was certified on September 29 but withdrawn just two days later on October 1. Kalshi classified the contract as a futures product, which typically tracks an asset’s price without a fixed expiration date.
The move leaves PEPE off Kalshi’s current list of crypto perpetuals, which as of October 6 includes 18 other digital assets and two metals. Among the listed perpetuals are Dogecoin and Shiba Inu, but Pepe is noticeably absent. Kalshi’s crypto perpetuals represent an expansion of its offerings beyond event-based contracts.
