Kalshi Launches Gold, Silver Perpetual Futures After CFTC Approval
U.S. prediction-market platform Kalshi has launched perpetual futures tied to gold and silver prices after receiving approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The company had applied for CFTC approval in July, which was granted just a few days later, on September 10.
KalshiClear's chief risk officer, Udesh Jha, explained that gold and silver were chosen due to strong investor demand for the metals. According to Jha, 'precious metals, especially gold and silver, offer a compelling investment case related to inflation.'
This move marks another milestone for Kalshi, which began offering crypto perpetual futures in the U.S. after securing CFTC approval for those products in May. The cumulative notional trading volume in crypto perpetual futures has reached $44 billion.
