Kalshi Seeks Approval for Leverage on Prediction Markets
Kalshi, a prediction market platform, has filed a proposal with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to list perpetual futures linked to 58 stocks and ETFs. The contracts are not cleared or settled in cash, but instead allow users to take on unlimited leverage.
The filing, SR-KALSHIEX-2026-02, marks Kalshi's attempt to bring crypto-style perpetual futures into the US equity market. Perpetual futures are a type of derivative that allows traders to speculate on price movements without taking ownership of the underlying asset.
Kalshi has faced scrutiny in the past over suspicious trading activity on its platform. In July 2026, repeated trades of $5,500 worth of ETH-PERP raised questions about whether reported volume reflected genuine activity.
