Kansai Electric Rewards Program Integrates Stablecoin Conversion on Polygon
Kansai Electric Power's rewards subsidiary, MOACT, has enabled its users to convert loyalty points into JPYC, a yen-pegged stablecoin on the Polygon network. This integration combines MOACT's NORM Points app with JPYC, Polygon, and HashPort Wallet, giving Japanese users a new way to use their reward points. Before this conversion route was available, users were limited to redeeming points for gift cards or partner rewards.
The integration uses Polygon as the on-chain infrastructure, providing a fast and affordable means of converting loyalty points into stablecoins. This is a significant development in the field of consumer payments, as it allows users to access their reward points in a more flexible way. The JPYC stablecoin is regulated under Japan's Payment Services Act, making it a secure option for users.
MOACT's rewards app, NORM Points, now offers its users the ability to convert loyalty points into JPYC, which can then be stored or transferred using HashPort Wallet. This integration is an example of how stablecoins can be used in practical consumer applications, rather than just for speculative trading.
