Kazakhstan Shifts Focus to Strategic Crypto Mining Under New Rules

Share

Kazakhstan has introduced new regulations for cryptocurrency mining, effective August 1. The country's focus will shift from unregulated mining to strategic mining.

The government has outlined requirements for companies seeking strategic miner status, including having an in-house data center with a capacity of at least 150 MW and using equipment with a minimum hash rate of 150 TH/s per unit.

Companies must also meet financial criteria, such as no outstanding debts to the state budget, and technical specifications for connecting to power grids from substations with a voltage of 35 kV and above.
