Kennelly's $500K Bitcoin Price Target Sees Volmex Labs CEO Spark Debate
Bitcoin's price target of $500,000 by 2028 has been brought back into focus after Volmex Labs CEO Cole Kennelly stated that Bitcoin could reach this level within about two years. Currently trading near $84,269, a gain of roughly 540% is required to reach the target.
Volmex operates indexes that track forward-looking volatility expectations for Bitcoin, but Kennelly's forecast stands apart from these measures. Several major market figures have previously named $500,000 as a possible Bitcoin target, including Standard Chartered, which once expected this level by the end of 2028 before moving the timeline to 2030.
ARK Invest CEO Cathie Wood predicted that Bitcoin could rise roughly tenfold within five years in 2021, while Mike Novogratz and Robert Kiyosaki also made similar forecasts. The $500,000 forecast requires a large price gain from the current level, but earlier forecasts show that long-range targets can change as market conditions develop.
Volmex tracks market expectations through its Bitcoin Volmex Implied Volatility Index, which measures expected volatility rather than predicting whether Bitcoin will move higher or lower. Institutional demand remains one factor traders continue to watch, with recent company activity keeping attention on how public firms may influence Bitcoin demand over longer periods.
