South Korea's five largest digital-asset exchanges have implemented real-time balance reconciliation systems to quickly respond to overpayments and similar incidents.

The exchanges, which include Bithumb, Coinone, Digital X, Gopax, and Upbit, have shortened the reconciliation cycle between actual holdings and internal ledger balances to under five minutes.

Following a Bitcoin (BTC) overpayment incident in February, Bithumb introduced a real-time reconciliation system that runs every two minutes.

The Financial Supervisory Service required exchanges to build always-on balance reconciliation systems with intervals of no more than five minutes to ensure swift response times.
