Korean Investors Fuel XRP Trading Surge, Overtaking Coinbase
The XRP token has become a hot commodity in South Korea, with trading volumes exceeding those of Coinbase in the US. According to TradingView, Upbit recorded $224.22 million in daily turnover for XRP, surpassing Coinbase's $173.38 million.
This surge in demand is largely driven by local investors seeking volatility in the spot market, as leveraged crypto futures are prohibited for retail traders in South Korea.
The XRP/KRW pair on Upbit accounted for 15.57% of the platform's total activity, making it a leader in liquidity alongside Bitcoin and Tether.
The price of XRP has been stuck in the $1.44, $1.50 range due to the strong interest from Korean investors, who are also moving their money out of traditional markets such as stocks.
