Korean Lawmaker Calls for Global Crypto Regulations to Boost Foreign Investment
Rep. Lee Jun-seok emphasized the importance of international compatibility in crypto regulations during a panel discussion at EastPoint: Seoul 2026.
The South Korean lawmaker argued that regulation focused solely on domestic markets can block foreign capital and companies from entering, and that clear standards are needed for global investors to understand.
Lee Jun-seok pointed out that South Korea's strength lies in commercializing new technologies quickly and generating profits from them. He suggested that crypto regulations should be compatible with international markets so overseas investors and companies can easily navigate Korean rules.
Caroline Pham, CEO of MoonPay Institutional, also spoke about the need for a technology-neutral regulatory framework, saying 'a token is just a technological form for a financial product.' She warned against creating separate rules every time a new technology emerges.
