Kraken Parent Delays IPO to Mid-2027 Amid Weaker Market Conditions
Payward, the parent company of cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, has delayed its initial public offering (IPO) to mid-2027. This decision comes after the company froze its IPO plans in March 2026 due to tough market conditions.
The delay means that Payward will remain private for at least another year. The company had already secured an $800 million fundraising round at a valuation of $20 billion, but market conditions have weakened since then. In the first quarter of 2026, Payward's revenue rose by 3%, but its platform transaction volume fell to $357 billion.
The decline in crypto prices and trading activity has made it difficult for companies like Payward to go public. The company had initially planned to pursue an IPO before the second quarter of 2027, but the revised timeline pushes this goal further into the future.
