Kraken Parent Seeks Compliant On-Ramp to Hyperliquid Futures
Kraken's parent company, Payward, plans to launch onchain Hyperliquid permissioned perpetual futures for US clients. The initiative uses CFTC-regulated clearinghouse Bitnomial and NinjaTrader Clearing to onboard accounts.
The move comes after President Trump publicly pushed for a compliant Hyperliquid entry route. Payward acquired Bitnomial for $550 million last April, giving it in-house CFTC infrastructure.
'Payward intends to be the first, holding the keys and carrying the regulatory obligations,' said Arjun Sethi, Co-CEO of Payward.
The plan still needs regulatory approval and faces compliance scrutiny after recent North Korea-linked wallet activity. If successful, it could accelerate crypto derivatives adoption across DeFi and CEX/DEX rails.
