Kraken Seeks US Approval for Single-Stock Perpetual Futures Trading
Kraken is pushing to bring single-stock perpetual futures trading to US traders. The move would expand Kraken's derivatives offering beyond cryptocurrencies, covering 10 US stocks including Tesla and Nvidia.
The company filed for this expansion under its parent company Payward. The goal is to allow US traders to respond to market-moving news outside regular stock-market hours.
Kraken has already launched CFTC-regulated crypto perpetual futures for eligible US clients in June, covering major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. This new filing would bring onchain perpetual futures through Hyperliquid to eligible US clients, with the contracts listed under Bitnomial Exchange's rules subject to regulatory approval.
Predictions are that this expansion could increase trading hours from 5 days a week to 24/7, but no launch date has been announced by Kraken yet.
