Kraken Unveils New Crypto Wallet Vision with Emphasis on Security and Usability
Kraken has released its Kraken Wallet Manifesto, outlining a new vision for crypto self-custody that prioritizes security and usability. The document positions the wallet as a tool for experienced users who want more control over their assets.
The manifesto cites two recent shifts that have changed the calculus around self-custody: a firmware flaw in some hardware wallets that weakened seed phrase generation, resulting in $100 million in losses; and the growing cost of staying on the sidelines, where early participants in decentralized platforms like Hyperliquid captured billions through token distributions.
The wallet will support multiple account types, including standard externally owned accounts, smart accounts under EIP-7702, embedded accounts, hardware signer connections, and multisignature setups. Users can split their holdings across different account types to balance security and usability.
