Kraken's Last-Minute Shift Gives Solana Inflation Reduction Proposal the Green Light

Solana's inflation reduction proposal, SGP-0002, has passed after a last-minute vote shift from major validators Kraken and Galaxy Digital. The proposal aims to double the annual decrease rate of Solana's token inflation rate, from 15% to 30%, in an effort to reach its target of 1.5% faster.

The voting period was marked by significant uncertainty, with support hovering at 65.4% just six hours before the deadline. Kraken initially voted 100% against the proposal but changed its vote to 90.34% in favor, helping push support above the two-thirds threshold.

The passage of SGP-0002 reflects a growing preference among some in the Solana community for a more aggressive reduction in token supply. However, the narrow margin indicates a divided community, and the long-term effects remain to be seen.
