Kylie Jenner's Hacked X Account Pumped Up Solana Memecoin to $1.21 Million

Kylie Jenner's X account was compromised by a hacker on August 24. The attacker used her 39.5 million followers to pump up a Solana memecoin from near-zero to $1.21 million in market cap in minutes.

The posts were removed, and the token crashed over 90% below $120,000. This attack is exactly what X's former Head of Product Nikita Bier had pledged to eliminate with an automatic account-lock system four months earlier.

Bier announced that accounts with more than 10,000 followers promoting a memecoin for the first time would be subject to mandatory ownership verification before the post could go live. However, X has not confirmed whether this security feature was ever fully deployed.
