Lame-Duck Session May Offer Second Chance for CLARITY Act
The CLARITY Act's fate remains uncertain after its recent Senate vote fell short of the required votes. Despite this setback, some senators from both parties are reportedly considering another attempt to advance the bill during the upcoming lame-duck session.
Digital Sovereignty Alliance managing director Adrian Wall has spoken directly with these senators and believes there is still an appetite for the legislation. However, he notes that it would be a 'long shot' and 'very complicated' to succeed.
Wall's comments come after Tuesday's failed Senate cloture vote, which left the CLARITY Act short of the 60 votes needed to move forward. The next Congress could potentially pick up where this one leaves off, with Wall suggesting that lawmakers may revisit crypto market structure legislation in the future.
